Justin Brennen Leath
Justin Brennen Leath left us to be with the Lord September 23, 2007 at the age of 25 years in New York City. His life is particularly marked by his love, hard work and dedication to music and performance arts since the age of four. He graduated from Lee High School in San Antonio, TX in 2000. In 2004, Justin received a B.F.A from Otterbein University in Westerville, OH. In May of 2007 he received a M.F.A. from the American Conservatory Theater's Acting Program in San Francisco, CA. During his time at ACT, he met his girlfriend Grace and both decided to move to New York to start their careers.
Born Justin Brennen Leath, he recently appeared in R-E-S-P-E-C-T at New York Stage & Film and currently was a cast member of Walmartopia, a musical production Off-Broadway. This past year he appeared in Happy End and A Christmas Carol at San Francisco's ACT, and Mother Courage at Berkeley Rep. Additional credits include Richard III, Romeo and Juliet, Henry IV Part 1, Born Yesterday and Camelot at the Utah Shakespeare Festival, where he received the 2004 Michael and Jan Finlayson Memorial Acting Award.
As a vocal soloist he has appeared with the Milwaukee and San Antonio symphonies and on NPR's "West Coast Live."
Other awards received are 2004 Otterbein College Paul Robeson Award; 2003 Otterbein College Leslie Burrell-Mangia Musical Theatre Award; 2002 Otterbein College Dance Award; 2001 Otterbein College Outstanding Freshmen Award.
Justin enjoyed life to the fullest and loved his job, the cast members, his family and friends. He survived by his father Xavier Leath, mother Mary Ellen Leath, twin brothers Ryan and Branden Leath, grandmothers Rosetta Leath and Carry Patton, grandfather Jervis Leath, aunts Jervece Steel and Tegwyn Berry, uncles Reginald Leath, Tress Patton and Berry Richardson, cousins Christina, Shawna, Chris, Jessica, Renata and Kayla, and other family members and friends. He will be missed by those who love him.
