Message from Pastor Metzger

If I have one significantly major flaw in character it is to “jam square pegs into round holes.” I do it not because I like to frustrate myself, but because I believe that doing what is “good” overshadows all else. Sometimes doing what is “good” opens doors that others would prefer remained closed. One of the causalities of not doing “good” is that the playing fields of life are incredibly tilted. We see many examples of this when we removed the scales from our eyes and open our minds by removing our prejudices.

As I take the bible seriously and study the concept of love as defined through the life of Jesus Christ, it becomes clearer that what got Jesus into the most trouble was his passion to do “good” and make sure others did “good.” Often the square peg which Jesus placed into the round hole was that doing “good” was more significant than doing what was “right.”

As you move ever closer to Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday perhaps an interesting journey would be to explore within yourself how you might use God’s loving spirit to grow into Jesus’ active understanding of doing ‘good’ in LOVE. I can insure you it will be better for your health than a box of candy and will last much longer than roses.

Love never ends.
Pastor Gerry
