2006 Pictures December 31, 2006 This morning a group of people from Bethany made the trip to New Braunfels to lead the service in their chapel. Although most of the choir and chime choir members were absent we had a service for the 77 residents of Eden Home who were present. Fortunately Xavier Leath, our choir director, was there. In this picture he is seen singing a solo. December 24, 2006 During today's service, the Tucker family lit the Candle of Love. December 17, 2006 This morning Barbara and Laurence Lee lit the Advent Candle, the Candle of Joy. December 10, 2006 This evening a huge crowd in Parker Chapel of Trinity University enjoyed a marvelous German Service of music and readings. Many felt it was the best we have ever had. Members of Bethany Church played an important part in the service. December 3, 2006 John and Glenda Norton were in charge of lighting the 1st candle for this Advent Season. November 26, 2006 This morning during the Kids Connection, Pastor Ludwig showed the boxes of Christmas gifts that will be sent to our troops serving in Iraq. November 19, 2006 Alyce Downer presents the Christmas wreath to Xavier Leath, winner of the raffle to raise funds for the youth group of one of our churches in New Orleans so that they can go to summer camp. October 22, 2006 This morning during the service, Jack and Alyce Downer presented a slide showing of the terrible devastation in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina last year. October 8, 2006 This morning the kids greatly enjoyed their lesson about not being able to enter the kingdom of God unless you become like little children. October 1, 2006 Alyce Downer, an active participant in many activities at Bethany church, never forgot her home church of Little Farms in New Orleans that was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. She is raffling off handcrafted Christmas wreaths with the funds going directly to the youth group in New Orleans to fund a summer camp program for them. August 27, 2006 During the worship service on August 28, 2006, pastor Peter Olsen passed the traditional stole to Ralph Ludwig, interim pastor of Bethany Church. July 16, 2006 This morning the Sunday School class went outdoors to better understand our stewardship of God's creation. June 18, 2006 Bill and Florence Burns gave a report on the Annual Meeting of the South Central Conference which they attended. June 11, 2006 The kids' moment today was all about prizes and trophies. The most important prize of all is that God is always with us. May 14, 2006 Our special music today was a solo by David Gustafson. May 7, 2006 After the fire last week, the Pilgrim School had a lot to discuss.  We are fortunate in having Culver Hall to house the Pilgrim School nursery until a new building can be built. We are thankful because God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is protecting Pilgrim School and all affected by the fire. April 30, 2006 A large group of youth and their friends took food that they had prepared to the Nolan Street bridge for their ministry to the homeless. Great was the surprise of worshippers at Bethany this morning when a fire in the Nursery Building at Pilgrim School and Day Care on church property kept us from meeting in the sanctuary. We were allowed by the fire department to have our service in the Culver Center which suffered no smoke damage. On a happier note, Louise Knodel cerebrated her 91st birthday after the service. She had a delicious chocolate cake baked by Dot O'Neill and received many "Happy Birthday's" from the congregation. April 23, 2006 A Liturgist's eye view of the congregation the Sunday after Holy Week April 16, 2006 Everyone enjoyed the delicious Easter breakfast that had been prepared between the Sunrise and Traditional Easter Services. April 1, 2006 There was a tremendous variety and quantity of merchandise for sale for our annual rummage sale. April 1, 2006 The Sahms took part in the Race for the Cure in the morning, and then came to our sale to purchase baked goods. March 26, 2006 On April 1 the there will be a rummage sale at Bethany. Many helped after church with moving materials from the storage shed to the fellowship hall. March 19, 2006 Rev. Olsen explains Mark 12:17 "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's" during Kid's Connection. March 12, 2006 Ethan Huffman trumpet solo. March 5, 2006 After church, 19 of our members participated in the 23 annual CROP walk to raise money for Church World Service which supplies needs to those who are suffering hunger and poverty in the world. The walk was 10 kilometers. February 26, 2006 The fellowship time after the service is enjoyed by everyone.
