2007 Pictures December 2, 2007 A beautiful Christmas musical, "We Three Kings" was presented. Those participating were Xavier, the church choir, and Jessarae Bailey, Soprano Soloist. Readers Erica Huffmann and Ben Schwartz. Youth--Katie Coulliard, Ashi Darilek, Candace Gil, David Gil, Matthew Gil, Ethan Huffman, Tyler Jackson, Adam Koch, Amanda Lonas, Drake Rangel, Kayla Rangel, Hans Von Gruenigen, and Alex. Behind the scene were Alyce Downer, Diane Stribley, and Jo Gil. December 2, 2007 On Sunday afternoon Bethany Church had the joy of hosting the South Texas Association for the installation of Pastor Gerry. The Conference Minister, Douglas Anders, honored us with his presence. He preached the sermon for this occasion. October 21, 2007 This morning's service was lead by the children. It also included congregational singing accompanied on the guitar by Ryan Leath and Nathan Hunziker. How wonderful to see an active group of children in the church. Friday night 6 children had a sleep over in the social hall. September 30, 2007 Pastor Gerry put in a full day, both in the service and in the work day that followed. A number of members stayed to clean up the church, both inside and out. Here Marilyn, Stan, and John tidy up the back playground of Pilgrim School. All the windows, both inside and out, received a good cleaning. Venetian blinds had to be cleaned also. September 27, 2007 Nearly 180 people attended a memorial service for Justin Leath. It was a very moving service for a talented young man whose promising career was cut short at only 25 years of age. August 5, 2007 The kids of the church enjoyed meeting our new pastor, Gerry Metzger as he spoke to them. July 22, 2007 After the worship service, Sandy and Ralph Ludwig were honored for 11 months of faithful service that they have given Bethany while we searched for a pastor. We will miss them. June 7, 2007 Pastor Ludwig dedicates the new building at Pilgrim School. April 29, 2007 Thanks to the photography of David Leonhardt we have this view of our youth ministry providing food to homeless people who live under the bridge in downtown San Antonio. April 22, 2007 This morning our new pastor, Gerry Metzger, spoke to the kids about the amazing universe that started from nothing. Immediately after the service the congregation voted to accept Gerry Metzger as our new pastor.  It was a source of joy and relief to the committee which has spent many days selecting a new pastor. April 8, 2007 During the Easter Service, the Sunday School did a splendid job of presenting the Flowering of the Cross service. Rummage Sale - March 31, 2007 Marilyn Ibey did a wonderful job of coordinating the rummage sale. March 18, 2007 Pastor Ralph was bombarded with questions and answers during the kids sermon. March 11, 2007 The anthem today was by the Gilead Singers, a male quartet. They sang "Balm in Gilead". March 4, 2007 This year we had 12 people who participated in the Crop Walk. There is so much hunger and misery in the world that Christians help relieve it through their giving to Church World Service-Crop Walk. Although fewer people participated this year, the amount of money raised was greater than last year. Even Pastor Ralph took part in the walk. Many of our members who are not able to walk were happy to contribute on behalf of those who did walk. February 11, 2007 After the service there was a second congregational meeting followed by installation of officers. February 4, 2007 Peter Olsen returned as a visitor to gave an interesting presentation of the work of our denomination and the Disciples of Christ in Global Missions. January 21, 2007 After the worship service, the congregation remained for the annual congregational meeting. January 14, 2007 The kids received an interesting message today about surprises.
